Where is Indonesia
Where is Indonesia, you ask? Located in South-Eastern Asia, on the archipelago between the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean, Indonesia is largely a maritime nation. It boasts some inland mountains, with 400 volcanoes, the highest number of volcanoes in the world, with the most recent eruption in 2010.
Volcanoes aren't the only thing to see, however. The unique flora and fauna include the largest flower Rafflesia Arnoldi, the largest living lizard the Komodo dragon, the smallest monkey - Tarsius, and magnificent Cendrawasih birds.
The center of many East-West trade routes, the capital Jakarta embodies a huge cultural heritage and presents a variety of religions, with the largest Muslim population of any nation. Home to 300 ethnic communities, with 250 distinct dialects, all retain their customs, cuisines, languages and traditional dances.
The country offers visitors sandy beaches as well as snowy peaks in the Jayawijaya Mountain. The Bali Island is targeted by travelers as having the best beaches, infrastructure and luxurious hotels. Cultural sites include the Toraja, Borobudur and Prambanan temples, as well as the Hindu festivities in Bali.
The spectacular "Indonesia in Miniature" Theme park, the recreational complex Ancol, and magnificent Jakartan architecture also welcome visitors. The Betawi wedding ceremony, the Betawi cokek dance and the circumcision procession are traditional Indonesian rituals.
When going to Indonesia, a certain amount of preparation is necessary. Make sure to get the required vaccinations and anti-malarials. Do the research before hand and avoid any potential problems before they occur. That way you can concentrate on nothing but enjoying this wonderful country!
